is anyone on my friends list a veterinarian or knows one? i have a weird hamster eye question and i'm impatient to wait until tomorrow when i can call our vet to make an appointment. mainly, one of her eyes is kind of bugging out, like a little pug doggie. she seems completely fine otherwise and doesn't seem to be in any pain and we're just wondering what's going on. she IS 2 years old, which is ancient for a hamu, so maybe it's just some weird old age thing... still, i don't want to wait until tomorrow to talk to a vet!>_

I don't know any vets, specifically, but I do know that mskitty23 works for two different vets and could probably help you, or get some info for you. You might want to check with her.
I'd suggest her too. She tends to know her stuff.
always sad when pets get ill, i hope it's nothing too serious and that your hamster gets well again :/+hugs+
this is kinda weird, but i've had this happen to my hamu before.if she's had some kind of trauma (mine apparently hit her head whenfalling off her wheel) there's a chance it might've dislodged fromthe orbital socket. is she trying to touch it with her paw? roieventually lost his eye because of that. it dried up and fell off.the doctor had said there wasn't much that we could do unless we'dtry to push it back in ourselves, which would've hurt him. my onlyadvice is that if you see it starting to dry out tonight because youcan take it to the vet, try putting some eyedrops on it to keep itmoist :( or, it's eye just might be kinda bulgey.
o___O[no pun intended with that, this just kinda bugged me out. doh! no pun intended there either][i'll just take my foot out of my mouth now]i wonder if she could have something wrong with her thyroidor even bells palsy (my border collie developed it and her eyes have bugged ever since)hope everything's alright *hugs*

thank you for your suggestion!! i was just about to contact her last night when livejournal freaked out and died for a little bit. so instead i tended to google eyed hamu for a good part of the night until she got annoyed with waiting for me to go away so she could hide her food stash and started falling asleep with superfull cheek pooches. [her head was as big as my fist! and it made her eye bulge even more! eep!]her vet should be in this morning now so i'm going to go call. poor hamu!

hopefully it's nothing... hamu's don't really see all too well, so they can stand to loose an eye if it happens and it really doesn't effect them too much.i just hope it's a scratch from bedding or something!
eep! ouch!she doesn't seem to notice anything. when we gently squeeze her to pick her up, it REALLY pops out. [think: lenore][but we don't squeeze her THAT much, of course!] it kinda looks like she's pulling her inner corner eyelid down, sort of like badtz maru. and popping her eye out at the same time. we'll see what the vet says!
and painful!unless it's one of those weird eye things that can happen but don't hurt... [hopefully!]
yikes!hamu's are generally hyper healthy and don't get a lot of diseases. she's a syrian hamu and they're super hardy so hopefully it's just something simple like a scratch from wood chips or something. poor hamu!
