moving help

the boy and i want to move from minneapolis, minnesota to phoenix, arizona, hopefully by the end of the summer or fall of this year. [before it gets cold again, at any rate.] whenever either of us have moved drastically, we've always had friends in our destination place to crash with until finding our own places to live. however, this time around, the one person we know in phoenix is currently living in minneapolis, teaching at the U of M for a bit. if you've ever moved cross country and can offer advice/experience, i'd really really appreciate it! 1. how much $$ did you save up for the move? i have no idea how much i should set aside. $2000? $6000? more?2. did you have a job in advance and moved to it or did you find one once you got there? i want to transfer in my company so i don't have to bother with IRA's and lose stock options and accrued vacation time and benefits and all that. if i quit, i have a 6 month window to get re-hired within my company and all of my benefits and stuff are instantly locked back into place as if i never left. but, i have a brand new car that i'm paying a loan off for, so i don't want to be unemployed for longer than possible. i like buying stuff too much! 3. did you rent a moving truck [like u-haul] or a moving company or ??? what did it cost?4. how did you find an apartment? since we don't know anyone there, we're kinda on our own. i know north phoenix is nice and south is the ghetto so we're going from there. [though this is the least of my worries, since i can easily look online at rent.com and find lots of nice swanky places within 'gated communities' and all that rot for half the price i'm paying here.] anything else i'm missing?

ugh. what a crap week. it was all head explodey sinus/allergy filled nastiness. but i just woke up from a perscription allergy pill induced 12-hour nap and i'm finally starting to feel a bit better. i just wish my doctor and i could find a pill that didn't lull me into a mini coma when i take it. i've missed so much work lately due to this crap and i feel bad about that. i missed martin's band play last night as well because i couldn't breathe. sorry martin! >_< then again, that's what paid sick days are there for...on the bright side, my pink kitty eared fuzzy hoodie finally turned up! ^_^ but my favorite black cardigan is still AWOL. >_< i swear to god it's trollfest week this week. a certain girlie is slagging off on me and now someone else is being meanies to the m-bot. people just read too much into things and are far too easily offended by things without bothering to take into account the context behind what people write/say/do. i feel like i almost have to start inserting little disclaimers on things like [/sarcasm] and [/inside joke- do not take literally] on things. i think sinthetik sums it up the best on her user page

is anyone on my friends list a veterinarian or knows one? i have a weird hamster eye question and i'm impatient to wait until tomorrow when i can call our vet to make an appointment. mainly, one of her eyes is kind of bugging out, like a little pug doggie. she seems completely fine otherwise and doesn't seem to be in any pain and we're just wondering what's going on. she IS 2 years old, which is ancient for a hamu, so maybe it's just some weird old age thing... still, i don't want to wait until tomorrow to talk to a vet!>_

hee! djmirko! told me a secret secret but i can't say what it is other than that it'll matter to you local darksider clubby kids and it may or may not be a GoodThing but that remains to be seen until we get a bit more Information. don't worry, you'll find out soon enough. heh.before i forget, let me say that mac lip glass is the BEST lip gloss in the world! and so shiny! i ended up getting several tubes in different colors because i liked it so much. and i got the prettiest new eye shadow compact by hard candy in pixie, which is all pink and frosty white and dark burgundy and shimmery irridescent pink-purple. and a super pretty pinky-burgundy ben nye eyeshadow, which i think is now my current favorite. it almost makes up for completely losing my favoritest black cardigan [>_<;], my cy-x goggles and my pink fuzzy emily strange kitty hoodie. they're all just... gone.
