[rewind] a month or so ago, i bought one of those HIGHLY CONCENTRATED oil based air fresheners for my car. you're supposed to hook/attach it to your car's heating vent and be blessed with your chosen scent-o-happiness upon running the heat. [in my case, 'tropical'.] but, it didn't attach to my car at all, so i threw it in the back seat drinky compartment thingie, figuring the scent wafting from the device alone [without heat] will make my car pretty smelling.[present day]so, i get into my car the other day [after it was negative whatever temperature the previous night] and am overwhelmed by the scent of coconuts and flowers- my happy tropical air freshener! i think 'that's really fucking STRONG' [koff.koff] but attribute it to [a] just getting over a cold and [b] heightened smelling senses from it being so.damn.cold. [cold will do that to you...]as i'm driving to work, the smell gets to be so bad, i reach behind me to grab the air freshener and throw it out the window. [yes, it was THAT bad.] but! my backseat drink holder is gone! after much fhasdjklfhdjkhfjdskhfjkds-ness as you can do while driving in rush hour, i look to see that my backseat drink holder has completely disappeared!after inspection, it turns out the oil leaked out into the joints of the drink holder [the air freshener was on it's side] and it froze and expanded and the rear drink holder exploded itself off of my car. [!!!] it, and the air freshener oil, were all over my backseat. ! ! !luckily, the oil is all on the floor of the backseat. still, it REEKS of happy flowers and coconut in my car. GAG!now, to figure out if toyota can replace it... >_

Tonight: Partly cloudy skies. Colder. Dangerous wind chills approaching -30F. yuck.it is exactly 100 degrees warmer inside my house than it is outside. [currently, according to my car, it's -7.] that's just wrong.perhaps the spastic freeze/bake explains my current new obsession with von dutch, among other things. moving help

the boy and i want to move from minneapolis, minnesota to phoenix, arizona, hopefully by the end of the summer or fall of this year. [before it gets cold again, at any rate.] whenever either of us have moved drastically, we've always had friends in our destination place to crash with until finding our own places to live. however, this time around, the one person we know in phoenix is currently living in minneapolis, teaching at the U of M for a bit. if you've ever moved cross country and can offer advice/experience, i'd really really appreciate it! 1. how much $$ did you save up for the move? i have no idea how much i should set aside. $2000? $6000? more?2. did you have a job in advance and moved to it or did you find one once you got there? i want to transfer in my company so i don't have to bother with IRA's and lose stock options and accrued vacation time and benefits and all that. if i quit, i have a 6 month window to get re-hired within my company and all of my benefits and stuff are instantly locked back into place as if i never left. but, i have a brand new car that i'm paying a loan off for, so i don't want to be unemployed for longer than possible. i like buying stuff too much! 3. did you rent a moving truck [like u-haul] or a moving company or ??? what did it cost?4. how did you find an apartment? since we don't know anyone there, we're kinda on our own. i know north phoenix is nice and south is the ghetto so we're going from there. [though this is the least of my worries, since i can easily look online at rent.com and find lots of nice swanky places within 'gated communities' and all that rot for half the price i'm paying here.] anything else i'm missing?

ugh. what a crap week. it was all head explodey sinus/allergy filled nastiness. but i just woke up from a perscription allergy pill induced 12-hour nap and i'm finally starting to feel a bit better. i just wish my doctor and i could find a pill that didn't lull me into a mini coma when i take it. i've missed so much work lately due to this crap and i feel bad about that. i missed martin's band play last night as well because i couldn't breathe. sorry martin! >_< then again, that's what paid sick days are there for...on the bright side, my pink kitty eared fuzzy hoodie finally turned up! ^_^ but my favorite black cardigan is still AWOL. >_< i swear to god it's trollfest week this week. a certain girlie is slagging off on me and now someone else is being meanies to the m-bot. people just read too much into things and are far too easily offended by things without bothering to take into account the context behind what people write/say/do. i feel like i almost have to start inserting little disclaimers on things like [/sarcasm] and [/inside joke- do not take literally] on things. i think sinthetik sums it up the best on her user page

is anyone on my friends list a veterinarian or knows one? i have a weird hamster eye question and i'm impatient to wait until tomorrow when i can call our vet to make an appointment. mainly, one of her eyes is kind of bugging out, like a little pug doggie. she seems completely fine otherwise and doesn't seem to be in any pain and we're just wondering what's going on. she IS 2 years old, which is ancient for a hamu, so maybe it's just some weird old age thing... still, i don't want to wait until tomorrow to talk to a vet!>_

last night i went to go flop into the bed, except i kinda tripped at the foot of the bed so i twisted a bit and landed on my arm/side all weird, driving my fingernails into the bare skin on my tummy and raking them across as i tried to pull my arm out from under me, leaving a bunch of half-moon stabs and bloody scratch marks in their wake. [it happened really fast and happened before i realized what happened.] OUCH! it hurts like hell this morning and it's starting to bruise all around the scratches as well. i didn't realize my fingernails were that sharp! fhdjsfhksdfhjksdfhjsd!!!

an old coworker of mine, who i 'adopted' like a little sister because she was super shy and super sweet and couldn't speak english very well, just invited me to go to thailand with her at the end of the year! what's better is that she's FROM thailand so she [obviously] speaks thai and her uncle owns a bunch of hotels there so i think we'd have a free place to stay. she goes twice a year and i kept telling her how much i wanted to go back when i was working with her. it would be so cool to go with a 'native' to show me all around and help translate for me!plus, she's super cool and super funny. since we both worked together and she didn't speak english well and i didn't speak more than 3 words of thai, we both did the speak-slowly-and-clearly-and-use-small-words thing and before long, we both understood what each other were trying to say in a weird mix of english-thai. almost everyone else at the office did the TALK REALLY LOUDLY to the foreign person thing because as we all know, yelling english at someone will make them understand it THAT much better. she would roll her eyes after they left and would exclaim "lint ears!" after them. [i found it hilarious but maybe you had to be there.] now, can i wrangle up enough vacation days to go?

pamela has a seXay new layout going on over at blackdaisies.com. go check it out! i'm almost done with my new layout as well. i just have the links + photo pages left and then it'll be all done! yay! of course, i'm moving it over to seijikat.net, so everyone's links will be out of date. i made pretty new link buttons too. hopefully, it'll all be done soon soon!last night eric and i went to nami, the new sushi place that opened in the warehouse district. it's sooooo pretty inside! it's a big spacious warehouse space with tall ceilings and plush carpet and superpretty japanese minimalist decorations [like a whole wall made out of those smooth roundish black rocks you see in fountains, with inset candleholders burning all pretty] and a really pretty lounge area with super comfy couches and chairs and pillows by the bar if you just want to lounge about and drink + smoke instead of eat. and the food was delicious! and the service was speedyfast too. i think it's going to be our new sushi place of choice. ^_^i have my journal embedded in my new site but the dates are displaying in ORANGE-YELLOW. yuck! i can't figure out why, either. i don't think i'm missing anything with color coding in my lj layout that would turn dates yellow when it's embedded in my site and i have my .css stuff all set on my journal page on my site to another color. how weird.in other news, i have 2 new friends. my doppleganger is going to be quite amused...
