if you ever order anything from amazon.com and you get enough stuff to qualify for their "free shipping" option [which isn't hard to do], DON'T use it unless you feel like waiting around for forever to get your stuff! i ordered a few books on 2 august and i just checked and they're STILL "in transit". i want my books!!!

i did it yesterday. :(fortunately i am not in a hurry for that stuff.
my estimated delivery date is august 16-20th. eep! i'm never using that option again, unless i'm ordering stuff that i just don't care about receiving right away. i'm running out of stuff in the Books To Read pile by my bed so i'm all anxious to get new stuff. i guess an actual trip to a bookstore is in order now! yay! [though, i'm dangerous in bookstores and spend waaaayyyyy too much money. i always find neat books i NEED, laying around on displays and things.] i am so dreading moving when it comes to my books. i think i'm going to purge a lot of stuff before then...
i have a completely unrelated question. (i wasn't sure which email addy to send it to, so i am putting it here) i wanted to add the sitemeter to my lj. i can't figure out where i put in the html (in the overrides i assume) and when/if i find that place how i get it where i want it on the page. you are good at web stuff. i am still learning. if you could help me at all i would appreciate it. thanks.
no problem! first of all, be sure when you get the tracker code that it's HTML based and NOT javascript because the javascript ones won't work with livejournal. once you have the code, i personally find it easiest to go into the actual style and insert it into the html code where you want it to show up. to do this, you need to first create a style [here] if you haven't yet. if you don't want to whip up a whole page from scratch, it's as easy as selecting the style you're currently using. [you're using punquin elegant w/sidebar, for instance.] once you've selected a style, click on edit. [or, go straight to edit style link under the settings on the left side of the main lj page.] i usually rename the new style to something but if you don't it doesn't matter. [it's the 3rd box down on the edit page... it should say eiregirl-lastn-new.]scroll all the way down to the bottom until you get to LASTN_PAGE, which is the entire code for your page. depending on where you want the code to appear on the page, this is where you'd insert it. for instance, if you want it to appear under darksnoopysgirl's journal, scroll down a little bit until you find this bunch of code [i replaced the < with [ so this would actually show up]:[FONT FACE="Verdana,Arial,Helvetica" SIZE=2 COLOR=%%color:page_text_title%%][B]%%name%%%%name-'s%% journal[/B][/FONT][/CENTER]once you find that, you'd put the code in here:[FONT FACE="Verdana,Arial,Helvetica" SIZE=2 COLOR=%%color:page_text_title%%][B]%%name%%%%name-'s%% journal[/B][tracker code inserted here] [/FONT][/CENTER]and that'll put it underneath the "darksnoopysgirl's journal" text and center it. if you want it to the left or to the right instead of centered, just insert it under the [/CENTER] line and at the end of the code before the > add align="right" [or, "left" as the case may be.]i hope this helps! i know all of the %% things are really confusing the first time you start messing around with them so if you get stuck or are unsure of exactly where to put it, just let me know where you want it to appear on your page and i'll tell you where to add the code. the cool thing about styles is that you can totally screw them up and just delete them if they get too messed up without killing your journal. ^_^once you have it all set, you can save and it'll give you an option of viewing your new page. if you don't like how it looks, just hit the back button and screw around with it more and keep re-saving. i think when you're all done with it all, you have to then go into "modify journal" [under settings on the left of the main lj page] and select the style you just created under the page layout style. save it and ta-da! it should now appear. alternately, you could just plop the code into the style overrides section but i don't know where it would appear if you did that. [i've never tried, i just always did it in the edit style page, since i wanted it to appear in a specific place.] if it's a weird looking, you could always delete it.let me know if you have any problems/questions! ^_^

i'm soooooo behind on comments/emails! the styles are a little wonky but once you start to mess with them, before long they're easy! they're working on a new style system that's supposed to be 789794654154 times better, so hopefully that'll be done soon!if you have any problems or get lost, just ask! i always recommend making a copy of the style you want to mess with so if it gets screwed up too bad, you can just delete it and make a new copy from the original. are you finding weird hits on your sitemeter? i get some really strange ones. i didn't figure this out till not too long ago but if you click on the number next to the isp, it'll give you lots more info, like the full isp and the user's OS and browser and time zone, among other things.
hmm. i will have to look. oh and i do read your lj every once in awhile so i am probably one strange person on there :)
heehee... i should add you to my list! there's a couple of people i read that i should just ADD but i always forget in the course of bopping around lj. this has nothing to do with anything you said but did EVERYONE in the world get up on the wrong side of the bed today? it's like angst bitch catfight 2002 today! [and i'm included!] meow! though after sucking down some allergy meds and mountain dew, i'm suddenly violently happy and giggly and in a good mood. it's crazy bi-polar day! eep!
yes, i think everyone is bitchy today. i'm in a fairly good mood for once. i am going on vacation on tuesday for 2 weeks, so i can't help but be happy.
